[draft] FGE 2022 letter

Hi! Thanks for creating for me and/or looking at my letter for other reasons. My username is weakinteraction on AO3 as well, and I'm requesting both fic and art for all these fandoms.
General likes
I am up for a wide range of types of fanworks, and equally happy with ratings anywhere on the scale.
I genuinely do equally like all of gen, slash, het and femslash. On the shipping side of things, I don't really have NOTPs in any of these fandoms, so if you want to include pairings in something focused on a single character or a fandom-in-general, that's fine with me. (As a general rule, I am more than happy to handwave that Everyone Is Bi And Poly for the purposes of fanworks. I certainly prefer this to breaking up canon pairings acrimoniously, though I'm also happy for them to just be AU-ed away.) For shippy works, I am fine with unresolved pining (in fact, a good bit of angst over "we'll never be together" is one of my favourite things -- provided it's plausible that the character holds that belief), UST, unhappy endings, etc. as well as explicit happy-ever-after type stuff. As long as at least one of the characters in the ship is clearly attracted to the other(s), it would satisfy my threshold for shippiness.
Tropes-wise, I am particularly fond of time travel, canon-divergent AUs, people with issues relating to identity (in the sense of things like secret identities and amnesia) and telepathy. In terms of relationship dynamics, I like all sorts of things but particularly: friends-to-lovers, friends-with-benefits, enemies-to-lovers, lovers-to-enemies(-who-are-maybe-occasionally-still-lovers-against-their-better-judgement), loyalty kink, and you-and-me-against-the-universe sorts of situations. Many (but not quite all) of my favourite characters share traits of being competent and getting on with their jobs/vocations/whatever, particularly in the sense of Doing The Right Thing over their strong personal preferences to do the opposite and/or against a general angsty background.
Fic likes: Overall, I am honestly very easy to please; I genuinely like pretty much all types of fic, from humorous vignettes, to angsty introspection, to twisty plotty adventure stories, casefic, slice of life, or digging into the canon's worldbuilding, and all points in between. I do want to make a positive point of the fact that fic-wise I'm always up for non-standard formats, anything from epistolatory or verse through to stories presented through documentary evidence, 1st/2nd person, present/future tense, IF, etc. etc. Again, if it works for what you want to do, I'll lap it up. (This is not to say that I don't enjoy reading third person, past tense, because I definitely do! I just don't want you to be put off doing other things if your inspiration takes you in that direction.)
Art likes: I do like use of light and shade in a picture, and interesting Easter-egg-y type stuff going on in the background (if there is one). An action scene that's a snapshot from an adventure, the characters in the middle of kicking ass. Goofy hijinks when the characters are off-duty. Portrayals of canon-divergent AU versions of the characters very, very welcome if the inspiration strikes you. For shippier stuff, little moments of intimacy: stolen kisses, hurt/comfort type stuff (but please not too much on the hurt front), that sort of thing. (I have no problem receiving NSFW art, fwiw.) I am also definitely up for things like diagrams, maps, etc. In the same Easter-egg-y vein mentioned earlier, things like that presented with in-universe trappings (e.g. something for Loki made up to look like a TVA file or something) would be lovely. I've provided some specific art prompts here and there where I can think of them, but in cases where I haven't I hope at least some of my more general prompts lend themselves to being illustrated?

Diaspora - Greg Egan
Any Eligible Relationship or Character
Honestly anything at all relating to this canon would be wonderful. Backstory of the early days of the polises, detailed exploration of one of the new universes, day-to-day life in a polis or for one of the various types of embodied humans ... What's life like for the people who settle in U*? Does anyone (e.g. a Bridger) ever transcribe themselves into the many-dimensional Wang's Carpets world and live with the squid and jellyfish creatures?
On the other hand, if you want to go into really deep backstory, I would love something centre on the Transmuters. I guess this could be either the human-derived characters finally finding out more about them (does anyone ever follow Paolo and Yatima up through the macrospheres after contact was lost?), or something set entirely within the time when they were active in our universe. When did they realise about the gravitational issues and why did they decide to put in place such a complicated means of leaving a trail? What other things did they get up to (apart from building very baroque statues of themselves)?
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
Any Eligible Relationship or Character
I'm fine with something set entirely in the show-within-the-show, entirely in the "behind the scenes" point of view, or mixing the two as the show itself does.
I would love anything at all here, gen or shippy -- on the shippy front, I could easily buy into any combination of the characters. Cracky horror in the vein of the show itself would be great, but I'd also be up for something quieter -- what happens in Darkplace hospital when there isn't an eldritch horror from beyond mankind's ability to understand on the loose? -- or a behind-the-scenes story. What happens if something (seemingly/actually) supernatural happens during filming?
Probably worth saying that this is a fandom where I'd definitely be up for a bit of formal experimentation if you are. Write in Garth's style! Or do a piece from one of those '90s cult magazines about this lost horror classic. Or something that matches the show, interleaving the story with the reminiscences of the participants in its creation.
16 Ways to Kill a Vampire at McDonalds
Note: You can play the game online for free here. (IME it takes an hour or two to get all the endings.)
I love the fun tone of this canon, and especially the way that Everything Is True in relation to vampires. The way it makes you inhabit Lucy's relationship dynamics works really nicely for me, too, with her feelings becoming clear in the slight disconnect between the player and her, with her occasionally resisting/outright refusing to use certain options.
Lucy/Luke/Maggie, Claire/Lucy/Luke/Maggie
I'd be very happy with more vampire hunting shenanigans for Lucy, Maggie and Luke (and Claire, if she goes to find Lucy as implied by the extra ending). The game portrays an atypical experience, what does a more typical one look like? Exactly how bad at it were they when they first got started? Or do they find themselves having to deal with other supernatural creatures, and having to learn a bunch of new lore? (Possibly leading to a group sex saves the day type situation?)
Pushing Ice - Alastair Reynolds
Some general things I love about this canon: the weird aliens, the perspectives of long-lived humans, the exploration of living through a severe resources bottleneck.
Chromis Pasqueflower Bowerbird/Bella Lind
I think the clash of perspectives between these two is what makes them interesting to me, and particularly that they each provide insight to the other, in various ways. Anything exploring the interaction between (the smartmatter) Chromis and Bella would be great. Chromis has this idealised view of Bella as "the Benefactor" that Bella really doesn't recognise in herself. How does Bella react to this person who's simultaneously from the deep past and the distant future? What exactly can the smartmatter do? ;)
Svetlana Barseghian/Bella Lind
I adore the complexity of the relationship between these two: the way they oscillate between allies and rivals over time as their circumstances keep changing so enormously, with distrust and suspicion building up and never going away completely even when things are going relatively well, but also the mutual respect that never goes away even when things are going badly.
On my first read, I genuinely thought that this relationship it might be heading for a canonical get-together after lifetimes of angst; anything exploring that possibility would be great. Alternatively, how Bella feels post-canon knowing that her mind has been repaired with bits of Svetlana's. Or some pining (in either direction).
Empire Records
Deb/Gina
I love how snarky they are with each other, and would very much appreciate something with a similar sort of banter-ish. I can see this ship either in terms of them both thinking this is a terrible (possibly alcohol-fuelled?) mistake (maybe one that happens more than one), or a scenario where they soften towards each other a bit over time, though I do imagine that they would still reflexively fall back on their old patterns of snark whenever things get too emotional.
Doctor Who (Comics)
Destrii/Izzy Sinclair
I'm intrigued by these two; they spend a lot of time bodyswapped and then when they swap back basically see into each other's minds, and it seems to me that they should develop a good, almost intimate, understanding of one another. However, at the same time it would be very natural for Izzy to deeply distrust Destrii -- I imagine them meeting again when Destrii is a companion, and Izzy being surprised that the Doctor's got her on board the TARDIS, but accepting that that must mean she's undergone some sort of personal growth.
Or what if Destrii stays behind on Earth post-The Flood and ends up meeting up with Izzy again after some more or (more likely) less successful attempts at blending in ...
Faction Paradox
Eliza/Justine
These two have such great battle couple/loyalty kink vibes; I would be genuinely happy with anything exploring their canon dynamic at any point along the (extremely complicated!) timeline and layering on a little shippiness. Digging into their angsty backstories very welcome too (especially Eliza's if you're familiar with Dead Romance), as is exploring what happens next after Eliza merges with (or whatever the best description is) Horus ...

DNWs
- character or ship bashing
- non-canon-divergent AUs like coffee shops, A/B/O, etc. (canon-divergent ones, on the other hand, are a big yes as mentioned above)
- pregnancy/kidfic (i.e. fic where the main focus is on the main character(s) in a caregiving role; relevant mentions and appearances from canonical children are fine, as are flashbacks to the main character(s) in childhood)
- watersports/scat/emetophilia/bloodplay/breathplay/vore
- violent non-con (coercion/mind control/etc. are fine)
- incest
- underage (which I define as people under 16 having sex)
