weakinteractionFirst of all, thank you for creating for me! I'm pulling out almost exactly the same letter again this year, because I really do just endlessly replay the same few games year in, year out (for example: once I finish this letter, I will be rolling a die to decide which planet to go to after Dantooine in KotOR).
My AO3 name is weakinteraction and I'm requesting fic, art or vids for all of these fandoms.
General likes
I am up for a wide range of types of fanworks, and equally happy with ratings anywhere on the scale.
I genuinely do equally like all of gen, slash, het and femslash. On the shipping side of things, I don't really have NOTPs in any of these fandoms, so any combination of characters that you're interested in is absolutely fine with me if we matched on a single character or a worldbuilding tag, or as a background pairing in a work for a relationship tag we matched on. (In general, I am more than happy to handwave that Everyone Is Bi And Poly for the purposes of fanworks.)
Tropes-wise, I am particularly fond of time travel, canon-divergent AUs, people with issues relating to identity (in the sense of things like secret identities and amnesia) and telepathy. In terms of relationship dynamics, I like all sorts of things but particularly: friends-to-lovers, friends-with-benefits, enemies-to-lovers, lovers-to-enemies(-who-are-maybe-occasionally-still-lovers-against-their-better-judgement), loyalty kink, and you-and-me-against-the-universe sorts of situations. Many (but not quite all) of my favourite characters share traits of being competent and getting on with their jobs/vocations/whatever, particularly in the sense of Doing The Right Thing over their strong personal preferences to do the opposite and/or against a general angsty background.
Fic likes: Overall, I am honestly very easy to please; I genuinely like pretty much all types of fic, from humorous vignettes, to angsty introspection, to twisty plotty adventure stories, casefic, slice of life, or digging into the canon's worldbuilding, and all points in between. I do want to make a positive point of the fact that fic-wise I'm always up for non-standard formats, anything from epistolatory or verse through to stories presented through documentary evidence, 1st/2nd person, present/future tense, IF, etc. etc. Again, if it works for what you want to do, I'll lap it up. (This is not to say that I don't enjoy reading third person, past tense, because I definitely do! I just don't want you to be put off doing other things if your inspiration takes you in that direction.)
Art likes: I do like use of light and shade in a picture, and interesting Easter-egg-y type stuff going on in the background (if there is one). An action scene that's a snapshot from an adventure, the characters in the middle of kicking ass. Goofy hijinks when the characters are off-duty. For shippier stuff, little moments of intimacy: stolen kisses, hurt/comfort type stuff (but please not too much on the hurt front), that sort of thing. (I have no problem receiving NSFW art, fwiw.) I am also definitely up for things like diagrams, maps, etc. In the same Easter-egg-y vein mentioned earlier, things like that presented with in-universe trappings (e.g. things that look like the game interfaces) would be lovely. I've provided some specific art prompts where I can think of them, but in cases where I haven't I hope at least some of my more general prompts lend themselves to being illustrated.
Vid likes: I apologise in advance for the fact that I don't really have any specific vid prompts for most of these fandoms (apart from the one really out there one for SMAC) but hopefully I've managed to give a sense of what I like about the canons. When it comes to vids I like interesting/surprising/amusing juxtapositions (either between one scene and the next or between what's happening and the music), and having fun with pacing (e.g. the cuts getting faster and faster towards the end before slowing down again). I am very broad-minded in my musical taste; I would much rather go with the music you think fits than have a vid shoehorned in to my favourite song if you're not feeling it. And to be honest, my "favourite song" is something which changes on about an hourly basis. That said, if you do want to know, the two places my music collection/Youtube playlist gravitates towards most strongly are British indie circa 1995-1997 (I hesitate to use the term "Britpop" but, yeah, basically Britpop) and female singer-songwriters from the last decade or so.
DNWs
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
General note: I am extremely agnostic about Alien Crossfire; feel free to do any of ignore it, incorporate it, or borrow some elements from it while ignoring others completely.
I love this game. I still get shivers every time the first fungus pops and the first interlude from the Book of Planet comes up when I start a playthrough. Anything at all that gets at the sense of the strangeness, difficulty but also beauty of life on a new planet would be very cool.
Vidding: this might be a very out-of-left-field idea, but apart from the usual sort of idea of a fanvid, inventing a new Secret Project and making the cutscene for it would be awesome. If you do fancy doing that, feel free to ignore all my prompts.
Corazon Santiago/Deirdre Skye
The "canon" story that comes out in the Datalinks quotes and wonders videos implies a war where the Gaians eventually completely overrun the Spartans with mind worms, and I would definitely be up for darkfic along those lines if the inspiration strikes you. In general, the screaming pain sphere thing that captured leaders get put in when you defeat a faction and all the "swear a pact to serve me" stuff if you let them capitulate has quite strong BDSM-y overtones to me.
Prompts: "Symbols are the key to telepathy." Arguments in the planetary council leading to a continued discussion (or "discussion") in private. "Very well, but you must swear a pact to serve me." Conquest victory: spoils of war. Economic victory: counting the cost. Diplomatic victory: embracing the new world leader. Transcendence victory: one last night of being human.
Planet & Deirdre Skye
I'm fascinated by all the telepathy in SMAC. Clearly in this setting humans have latent psi powers all along but something about being on Planet brings them out. I love the relationship between these two implied in the cut scenes, quotes, etc., learning to understand each other in the face of an impending apocalypse (and in the good ending averting it) despite the hostility of the other factions.
Prompts: Regeneration tank dreams. Deirdre helping Planet to recover memories of previous flowerings. What it's like to be part of a merged consciousness post-Transcendence. Planet's poetry.
KotOR I and II
Obviously, these are two fandoms in the sign up but I'm lumping them together here because my general Star Wars likes apply across both: I am always here for pilots and their ships, lightsabers, galactic politics/diplomacy and weird alien planets (either in-keeping-with-the-films single biome efforts, as the games go for, or ones that try to be more "realistic"). I tend to find that I can take or leave the intricacies of the internal bureaucracy of evil organisations like the Sith, but I am so here for the Dark Side in terms of fallen Jedi abusing the trust of their former friends and stuff like that so "X goes Dark Side" AUs (in terms of the KotOR games, taking the Dark Side ending) are very welcome. If you're going down the smutty route, any and all types of Force Sex are good with me.
I am up for whatever interpretation of how the game might have played out that you want to go for, including going fully down the Dark Side route if that's the way inspiration takes you -- I have played both of them far too many times with different alignments/character motivations I was RPing in my head even though none of the dialogue choices quite fit/etc. Free to strategically ignore anything a later game says about an earlier one (i.e. don't take KotOR II as gospel on what happened next if you're writing about the KotOR I characters, and feel free to ignore the MMORPG entirely -- I'm really not that into multi-player, so realistically I probably won't ever play it, though I have no objection if you do want to incorporate elements from it; I have osmosed a few things and anything else I'll just assume you made up yourself).
KotOR I
Belaya/Juhani
Very strongly hinted at in canon though whether anything came of it while they were padawans is up to you, given the Jedi's restrictions on love.
Prompts: Long nights under the stars. Reunion after the end of the game (let's assume Belaya survived the bombardment of Dantooine somehow -- maybe she'd been sent on some other mission?). Or (since Belaya turns Dark Side and pops up on Korriban if you kill Juhani), an AU where they both fall together and become unstoppable. (Would Level-9-or-so Revan be able to take them both on in the grove? Seems unlikely as I regularly have to reload during that fight when it's just Juhani.)
Female Revan/Juhani
There's a whole mirroring thing going on here, given that Revan initially meets Juhani when the Council are trying to make a point to her about the dangers of the Dark Side. However, there's also history given the revelation that it was Revan, on the way through Taris, who inspired Juhani to become a Jedi in the first place.
Prompts: Helping each other stay on the Light Side. Post-canon mission fic. "I will be your doom." - threat or promise? (I have, in all seriousness, considered doing a playthrough where Revan romances Juhani, but then turns at the Temple roof, but finds that she can't fight Juhani and so leaves herself open to being chopped down, and taking that as being the ending rather than reloading, just because I think it would be a neat way of inverting Juhani's initial introduction.) Dark Side Revan turns Juhani at the Temple instead of killing her.
Juhani/Female Revan/Bastila Shan
This is basically my default party for most of the game. (I generally build Revan as a high-INT Scout/Consular for high skills and Force powers to make it work, but really do feel free to ignore that. I'm just geeking out about character builds now.) I think in terms of the OT3 I like that they all have their moments of falling to the Dark Side.
Prompts: Working through the rough edges of working together during the period covered by canon. LS post-canon based on the idea that they've all been through different redemption arcs: helping each other stay on the Light Side, that sort of thing. DS post-canon (assuming Juhani gets turned instead of killed on the Temple roof, unless you have other ideas for a path to it): Dark Lord Revan and her concubines. (This is where I'm seeing the second freeform coming in, but I'm not wedded to that.)
Dustil Onasi/Mission Vao
There are lots of directions this pairing could go in: anything from angsty responses to the events of canon (they're both from planets that were bombarded into dust by Malak, after all), to a Dustil who stayed Sith corrupting Mission on purpose to twist the knife further, to wacky comedy about how weird it is that Carth is now Mission's prospective father-in-law (add Revan -- either male or female -- as step-parent-in-law as well if you want).
Prompts: Post-canon helping out with rebuilding somewhere in the Republic. Dustil undercover in the Sith and Mission helping out while having to pretend to be his slave. (Maybe Zaalbar too? He'd hate it even more than she would.) Dark Side version where Mission eventually turns. Mission teaches Dustil Pazaak.
Yuthura Ban
Ah, my favouriteprospect for the year non-party NPC in the whole game. Anything at all about her would be great.
Prompts: Backstory on Sleheyron or how she rose through the ranks of the Sith. What happened next (in any version of the ending that doesn't leave her dead). Yuthura as bad teacher who plays favourites and is permanently exasperated with almost all of her students.
Kotor II
Group: Atris/Female Exile
I don't necessarily see this as actually leading to anything happening (though if you can make that work, I will eat it up with a spoon) but something exploring the complicated feelings they have towards each other would be fascinating. The game gives quite a bit of information about how she felt about Exile (particularly to those willing to work through Handmaiden's enormous dialogue trees) but also leaves a lot of questions about exactly what was going on there, especially from Exile's side; one of my favourite things about the game is the way it lets you react to things about your past and set your characterisation as you go, so feel free to take any interpretation that works for you.
Prompts: That's my lightsaber! Learning about each other through combat. The Sith holocrons see that Exile has gone DS and try to manipulate them into being master and apprentice. AU: Atris is so troubled by what happened in the Council chamber that she follows Exile out of civilised space.
Female Exile/Visas Marr
Another either-they-can-redeem-each-other-or-fall-together ship; there may be a theme here ...
Prompts: "My life is yours." Dealing with the aftermath of the Ravager. Return to Katarr. Visas's ability to detect Exile is effectively a gameplay mechanic (getting halfway up or down the karma meter, or reaching Lvl 15), but what is it equivalent to in-universe? Force Sight: literally a different perspective.
Female Jedi Exile/Darth Sion
I have used the "you're in my mind too" line on Sion in the past without the "[Lie]" in front of it more than once (the fact that he's a presence all the way through the game -- even on the menu screen -- makes it plausible to me). I definitely see this ship very much in terms of their shared experiences of being involved with Kreia. One of my favourite things about the game is the way it lets you react to things about your past and set your characterisation as you go, so feel free to take any interpretation that works for you. I find it hard to picture this ship ever being consummated or anything, it's more about the twisted obsession and so on, but go for it if you can make it work.
Prompts: Telepathy/Force bonds. Pain and suffering. Learning about each other through combat. AU: Exile doesn't run on Korriban when Kreia tells her to. The game makes a big deal of the contrast between Nihilus (Force vampire) and Exile (hole in the Force) but there's surely an equivalent thing with Sion and his only being kept alive by the Force.
G0-T0
I love G0-T0's convoluted have-to-get-high-INF-to-find-out backstory about being the original droid sent to help the Ithorians on Telos driven to reinvent himself as a crime lord by imprecise programming, so if you want to delve into that, go ahead, but shenanigans while running the Exchange or travelling with Exile are also very welcome.
Prompts: What it feels like to have an awareness of the ebb and flow of commerce etc. across the huge scale of the whole of the civilised galaxy. Rebuilding as a scary enforcer type. Disposing of someone who has found out the secret, either directly or indirectly. Dealing with the other crewmembers of the Ebon Hawk (especially the droids -- eg how does the standoff with Bao-Dur's remote eventually end?)
16 Ways to Kill a Vampire at McDonalds

I love the fun tone of this canon, and especially the way that Everything Is True in relation to vampires. The way it makes you inhabit Lucy's relationship dynamics works really nicely for me, too, with her feelings becoming clear in the slight disconnect between the player and her, with her occasionally resisting/outright refusing to use certain options.
Claire/Lucy/Luke/Maggie, Lucy/Luke/Maggie
Prompts: More vampire hunting shenanigans for Lucy, Maggie and Luke. The game portrays an atypical experience, what does a more typical one look like? Exactly how bad at it were they when they first got started? Or do they find themselves having to deal with other supernatural creatures, and having to learn a bunch of new lore? (Possibly leading to a group sex saves the day type situation?) Claire going to find Lucy, as implied by the extra ending, and getting embroiled in their life.
Piffle
This game is a mixture of addictive gameplay, cute graphics and story, and maddening frustration once you get to the higher levels, if you're not paying for upgrades. (It's free to play from most app stores, but it does have ads and tries to persuade you to make in-app purchases. For what it's worth: I got to Level 300 before I broke my phone and decided not to install it on my new one for the sake of having time to do basically anything else.)
I've requested characters rather than ships for this one: Detective Hard Boiled, Doc Block, Piffle, Waffles but you should definitely feel free to use any one or more of them and include other characters not on that list if you want.
Prompts: Pre-canon: what were things like before Waffles was abducted? (It feels as though Doc Block is a known troublemaker.) The slightly Stockholm-Syndrome-y thing Waffles seems to have going on with Doc Block in some of the "cut scenes". Piffle helping Hardboiled out with a case (either in exchange for help finding Waffles, or combined with the pre-canon idea). Worldbuilding: did Doc Block invent the blocks or were they always around, just not weaponised? How did the whole piffle-ball thing get started? etc.

- character or ship bashing (in particular, where there are conflicting canon ships for these characters, quietly ignoring them/AU-ing them away/handwaving everyone as being happily poly are all far preferable to me to devoting large chunks of the fic to demonstrating that the canon love interest is The Worst and breaking them up)

The game gives quite a bit of information about how she felt about Exile (particularly to those willing to work through Handmaiden's enormous dialogue trees) but also leaves a lot of questions about exactly what was going on there, especially from Exile's side; one of my favourite things about the game is the way it lets you react to things about your past and set your characterisation as you go, so feel free to take any interpretation that works for you.
Prompts: That's my lightsaber! Learning about each other through combat. The Sith holocrons see that Exile has gone DS and try to manipulate them into being master and apprentice. AU: Atris is so troubled by what happened in the Council chamber that she follows Exile out of civilised space.
Female Exile/Visas Marr
Another either-they-can-redeem-each-other-or-fall-together ship; there may be a theme here ...
Prompts: "My life is yours." Dealing with the aftermath of the Ravager. Return to Katarr. Visas's ability to detect Exile is effectively a gameplay mechanic (getting halfway up or down the karma meter, or reaching Lvl 15), but what is it equivalent to in-universe? Force Sight: literally a different perspective.
Female Jedi Exile/Darth Sion
I have used the "you're in my mind too" line on Sion in the past without the "[Lie]" in front of it more than once (the fact that he's a presence all the way through the game -- even on the menu screen -- makes it plausible to me). I definitely see this ship very much in terms of their shared experiences of being involved with Kreia. One of my favourite things about the game is the way it lets you react to things about your past and set your characterisation as you go, so feel free to take any interpretation that works for you. I find it hard to picture this ship ever being consummated or anything, it's more about the twisted obsession and so on, but go for it if you can make it work.
Prompts: Telepathy/Force bonds. Pain and suffering. Learning about each other through combat. AU: Exile doesn't run on Korriban when Kreia tells her to. The game makes a big deal of the contrast between Nihilus (Force vampire) and Exile (hole in the Force) but there's surely an equivalent thing with Sion and his only being kept alive by the Force.
G0-T0
I love G0-T0's convoluted have-to-get-high-INF-to-find-out backstory about being the original droid sent to help the Ithorians on Telos driven to reinvent himself as a crime lord by imprecise programming, so if you want to delve into that, go ahead, but shenanigans while running the Exchange or travelling with Exile are also very welcome.
Prompts: What it feels like to have an awareness of the ebb and flow of commerce etc. across the huge scale of the whole of the civilised galaxy. Rebuilding as a scary enforcer type. Disposing of someone who has found out the secret, either directly or indirectly. Dealing with the other crewmembers of the Ebon Hawk (especially the droids -- eg how does the standoff with Bao-Dur's remote eventually end?)

I love the fun tone of this canon, and especially the way that Everything Is True in relation to vampires. The way it makes you inhabit Lucy's relationship dynamics works really nicely for me, too, with her feelings becoming clear in the slight disconnect between the player and her, with her occasionally resisting/outright refusing to use certain options.
Claire/Lucy/Luke/Maggie, Lucy/Luke/Maggie
Prompts: More vampire hunting shenanigans for Lucy, Maggie and Luke. The game portrays an atypical experience, what does a more typical one look like? Exactly how bad at it were they when they first got started? Or do they find themselves having to deal with other supernatural creatures, and having to learn a bunch of new lore? (Possibly leading to a group sex saves the day type situation?) Claire going to find Lucy, as implied by the extra ending, and getting embroiled in their life.
Piffle
This game is a mixture of addictive gameplay, cute graphics and story, and maddening frustration once you get to the higher levels, if you're not paying for upgrades. (It's free to play from most app stores, but it does have ads and tries to persuade you to make in-app purchases. For what it's worth: I got to Level 300 before I broke my phone and decided not to install it on my new one for the sake of having time to do basically anything else.)
I've requested characters rather than ships for this one: Detective Hard Boiled, Doc Block, Piffle, Waffles but you should definitely feel free to use any one or more of them and include other characters not on that list if you want.
Prompts: Pre-canon: what were things like before Waffles was abducted? (It feels as though Doc Block is a known troublemaker.) The slightly Stockholm-Syndrome-y thing Waffles seems to have going on with Doc Block in some of the "cut scenes". Piffle helping Hardboiled out with a case (either in exchange for help finding Waffles, or combined with the pre-canon idea). Worldbuilding: did Doc Block invent the blocks or were they always around, just not weaponised? How did the whole piffle-ball thing get started? etc.
