Fandom Growth Exchange 2021 Dear Creator Letter

Hi! Thanks for creating for me and/or looking at my letter for other reasons. My username is weakinteraction on AO3 as well, and I'm requesting both fic and art for all these fandoms.

General likes

I am up for a wide range of types of fanworks, and equally happy with ratings anywhere on the scale.

I genuinely do equally like all of gen, slash, het and femslash. On the shipping side of things, I don't really have NOTPs in any of these fandoms, so if you want to include pairings in something focused on a single character or a fandom-in-general, that's fine with me. (As a general rule, I am more than happy to handwave that Everyone Is Bi And Poly for the purposes of fanworks. I certainly prefer this to breaking up canon pairings acrimoniously, though I'm also happy for them to just be AU-ed away.) Following various discussions I've seen over the last little while, I think it's probably also worth saying that for shippy works, I am fine with unresolved pining (in fact, a good bit of angst over "we'll never be together" is one of my favourite things -- provided it's plausible that the character holds that belief), UST, unhappy endings, etc. as well as explicit happy-ever-after type stuff. As long as at least one of the characters in the ship is clearly attracted to the other(s), it would satisfy my threshold for shippiness.

Tropes-wise, I am particularly fond of time travel, canon-divergent AUs, people with issues relating to identity (in the sense of things like secret identities and amnesia) and telepathy. In terms of relationship dynamics, I like all sorts of things but particularly: friends-to-lovers, friends-with-benefits, enemies-to-lovers, lovers-to-enemies(-who-are-maybe-occasionally-still-lovers-against-their-better-judgement), loyalty kink, and you-and-me-against-the-universe sorts of situations. Many (but not quite all) of my favourite characters share traits of being competent and getting on with their jobs/vocations/whatever, particularly in the sense of Doing The Right Thing over their strong personal preferences to do the opposite and/or against a general angsty background.

Fic likes: Overall, I am honestly very easy to please; I genuinely like pretty much all types of fic, from humorous vignettes, to angsty introspection, to twisty plotty adventure stories, casefic, slice of life, or digging into the canon's worldbuilding, and all points in between. I do want to make a positive point of the fact that fic-wise I'm always up for non-standard formats, anything from epistolatory or verse through to stories presented through documentary evidence, 1st/2nd person, present/future tense, IF, etc. etc. Again, if it works for what you want to do, I'll lap it up. (This is not to say that I don't enjoy reading third person, past tense, because I definitely do! I just don't want you to be put off doing other things if your inspiration takes you in that direction.)

Art likes: I do like use of light and shade in a picture, and interesting Easter-egg-y type stuff going on in the background (if there is one). An action scene that's a snapshot from an adventure, the characters in the middle of kicking ass. Goofy hijinks when the characters are off-duty. Portrayals of canon-divergent AU versions of the characters very, very welcome if the inspiration strikes you. For shippier stuff, little moments of intimacy: stolen kisses, hurt/comfort type stuff (but please not too much on the hurt front), that sort of thing. (I have no problem receiving NSFW art, fwiw.) I am also definitely up for things like diagrams, maps, etc. In the same Easter-egg-y vein mentioned earlier, things like that presented with in-universe trappings (e.g. something for Loki made up to look like a TVA file or something) would be lovely. I've provided some specific art prompts here and there where I can think of them, but in cases where I haven't I hope at least some of my more general prompts lend themselves to being illustrated?

DNWs
  • character or ship bashing
  • non-canon-divergent AUs like coffee shops, A/B/O, etc. (canon-divergent ones, on the other hand, are a big yes as mentioned above)
  • pregnancy/kidfic
  • watersports/scat/emetophilia/bloodplay/breathplay/vore
  • violent non-con (coercion/mind control/etc. are fine)
  • incest
  • underage (which I define as people under 16 having sex)

Instrumentality of Mankind

no character/relationship tags

I am very much up for anything here, from deep exploration of the worldbuilding that canon only tends to hint at most of the time to canon-typical weird philosophical stuff to adventures set in the universe. Art-wise, illustrations of anything from canon would be amazing, from the underpeople to the weird future world to alien landscapes to spacecraft.

Prompts: Anything and everything to do with the underpeople -- are there other types we don't get to see? what exactly were their origins? what happens out into the future? (there are various events in the stories set in the latter part of the timeline which might point towards some changes in the relationship between underpeople and humans) What's it like to be an ordinary citizen of the Instrumentality? (Either during the Rediscovery of Man phase or during the earlier time when everything was supposedly perfect under the control of the Instrumentality.) Or, conversely, what goes on with the Lords and Ladies as they plot and scheme and may or may not work for the general improvement of everything? (Or feel free to go much further back in the timeline to before the founding of the Instrumentality.) My very favourite thing in the Instrumentality 'verse, though, is the weirdness of the space travel, and particularly the creepy sense that space travel itself and/or something out there in the void is inherently hostile. We see a number of ways of dealing with it, from the scanners, to Commander Suzdal's ship with its outer hull full of shellfish and what have you, to the pinlighters and their partners. Are there other methods? What is exactly going on with all of that? (Something from the POV of the "rats/dragons" would be amazing if you're up for it.)

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra

Relationship: Chelli Lona Aphra/Domina Tagge

Aphra is clearly attracted to Tagge, and Tagge seems very much the sort of person who would take advantage of that if it amused her and/or suited her purposes. Their overall dynamic is quite similar to the one between Aphra and Vader back when she was introduced, in my opinion, just with the delicious potential of shippiness on top.

Canon-specific DNW exception: I don't mind breathplay if it's related to Tagge's forcefield thingies, but no actual physical choking please. (Reference to past Force choking is OK but please don't make it sexy.)

Prompts: Canon-typical heist shenanigans. Fancy parties (combining this and the previous one -- maybe something similar to the current War of the Bounty Hunters plotline happens but this time Tagge needs to come along in person for one reason or another). Something goes wrong on board the Acquisitor and Aphra is stuck there with a Tagge who's increasingly frustrated at the slow progress of the repairs. Aphra and Tagge both have reasons to avoid the Empire paying them too close attention; what if avoiding scrutiny requires some sort of fake dating type scenario?

Loki (TV)

With all the twists and turns in canon, I'm very happy for you to set things for these ships at any point along the way, or indeed in the relative future, either in the reset TVA we see very briefly at the end of S1, or in some scenario beyond that point that you think S2 might lead up to.

Relationship: B-15/C-20

It was B-15's reflexive faith in C-20's abilities that made me start shipping this, to be honest, so any kind of competence kink stuff would be particularly welcome here.

Prompts: What sort of relationship did they have as fellow hunters? Or what happens if B-15 manages to rescue C-20 once they both know the truth? Is there a rebooted C-20 in the new TVA we see?

Relationship: B-15/Ravonna Lexus Renslayer

There seems to be a lot of mutual respect here, and given that we find out Ravonna started off as a hunter, I wonder how that plays in. That said, I find the way Ravonna goes 100% "the mission is the mission" in the second half of the season fascinating and anything playing with that side of their dynamic would be great too.

Prompts: Pre-canon adventures -- is there such a thing as a "typical" case for the TVA? What other situations have become difficult in the past? (If you want to bring in some variant of a Marvel character of your choice, whether one who's already established in the MCU or from elsewhere, feel free; I will probably recognise them even if I don't know them that well.) Some sort of scenario while Ravonna has B-15 locked up (how exactly does that restraining cell work?). Again, what's the status quo after the reset? Is a new version of Ravonna still around or has she gone out into the wider branching timeline to figure things out for herself?

Relationship: B-15/Sylvie Laufeydottir

I was already into this from a dogged hunter/very clever prey point of view early on, but events towards the end really sold me on this, especially the way B-15 ended up trusting Sylvie.

Prompts: Have they had any "near misses" prior to canon? (Perhaps Sylvie had to escape by pretending not to be the variant, which given that they seemed to expect all Lokis to be men wouldn't have been too difficult ...) What exactly was it like from B-15's point of view when Sylvie was in her head in episode 2? (Feel free to bring in as much wild speculation as you want to about who B-15 may or may not be a variant of, however plausible or not it may seem.) AU where Sylvie takes B-15 along with her after B-15 realises the truth. Post-S1 fic where reset-B-15's latest mission involves tracking down Sylvie and Sylvie starts to realise what has and hasn't been going on at the TVA after what happened in ep 6.
