Fandom Growth Exchange 2019 Dear Creator Letter
Hi! Thanks for creating for me and/or looking at my letter for other reasons. My username is weakinteraction on AO3 as well, and I'm requesting both fic and art for all these fandoms.

I am up for a wide range of types of fanworks, and equally happy with ratings anywhere on the scale.
I genuinely do equally like all of gen, slash, het and femslash. On the shipping side of things, I don't really have NOTPs in any of these fandoms, so if you want to include pairings in something focused on a single character or a fandom-in-general, that's fine with me. (As a general rule, I am more than happy to handwave that Everyone Is Bi And Poly for the purposes of fanworks. I certainly prefer this to breaking up canon pairings acrimoniously, though I'm also happy for them to just be AU-ed away.) Following various discussions I've seen over the last little while, I think it's probably also worth saying that for shippy works, I am fine with unresolved pining (in fact, a good bit of angst over "we'll never be together" is one of my favourite things -- provided it's plausible that the character holds that belief), UST, unhappy endings, etc. as well as explicit happy-ever-after type stuff. As long as at least one of the characters in the ship is clearly attracted to the other(s), it would satisfy my threshold for shippiness.
Tropes-wise, I am particularly fond of time travel, canon-divergent AUs, people with issues relating to identity (in the sense of things like secret identities and amnesia) and telepathy. In terms of relationship dynamics, I like all sorts of things but particularly: friends-to-lovers, friends-with-benefits, enemies-to-lovers, lovers-to-enemies(-who-are-maybe-occasionally-still-lovers-against-their-better-judgement), loyalty kink, and you-and-me-against-the-universe sorts of situations. Many (but not quite all) of my favourite characters share traits of being competent and getting on with their jobs/vocations/whatever, particularly in the sense of Doing The Right Thing over their strong personal preferences to do the opposite and/or against a general angsty background.
Fic likes: Overall, I am honestly very easy to please; I genuinely like pretty much all types of fic, from humorous vignettes, to angsty introspection, to twisty plotty adventure stories, casefic, slice of life, or digging into the canon's worldbuilding, and all points in between. I do want to make a positive point of the fact that fic-wise I'm always up for non-standard formats, anything from epistolatory or verse through to stories presented through documentary evidence, 1st/2nd person, present/future tense, IF, etc. etc. Again, if it works for what you want to do, I'll lap it up. (This is not to say that I don't enjoy reading third person, past tense, because I definitely do! I just don't want you to be put off doing other things if your inspiration takes you in that direction.)
Art likes: I do like use of light and shade in a picture, and interesting Easter-egg-y type stuff going on in the background (if there is one). An action scene that's a snapshot from an adventure, the characters in the middle of kicking ass. Goofy hijinks when the characters are off-duty. Portrayals of canon-divergent AU versions of the characters very, very welcome if the inspiration strikes you. For shippier stuff, little moments of intimacy: stolen kisses, hurt/comfort type stuff (but please not too much on the hurt front), that sort of thing. (I have no problem receiving NSFW art, fwiw.) I am also definitely up for things like diagrams, maps, etc. In the same Easter-egg-y vein mentioned earlier, things like that presented with in-universe trappings (e.g. something for SMAC having an interface like the game around it) would be lovely. I've provided some specific art prompts here and there where I can think of them, but in cases where I haven't I hope at least some of my more general prompts lend themselves to being illustrated?

Faction Paradox
Cousin Eliza/Cousin Justine
I relistened to both audio series relatively recently and rediscovered all my feels about these two, but this is the first time I've remembered to nominate them for an exchange. They really are ripe for full on angst, between their backstories that left them the sort of people the Faction would recruit in the first place (if you want to lean into the "Eliza is Christine Summerfield from Dead Romance" thing, that's fine with me) to everything that happens to them during the series. I'm also very into the loyalty kink and battle couple elements.
Prompts: Pre-canon (I am happy with pre-relationship tentativeness for this pairing, especially during this time period). A snatched moment of quiet, maybe during their stay in the 18th Century? Speaking of which, anything to do with the Chevalier d'Éon (anything from being called out on their attraction to each other, to a threesome). Justine dealing with what Eliza's become by the end of the MB series. As a specific art thing, something involving shadow weapons would be awesome.

Doctor Who (Comics)
Destrii/Izzy Sinclair
I'm intrigued by everything that happened between Destrii and Izzy; they spend a lot of time bodyswapped and then when they swap back basically see into each other's minds, and it seems to me that they should develop a good understanding of one another. However, it would be entirely natural for Izzy to distrust Destrii, even while Destrii would probably see it very much in terms of bygones being bygones ...
Prompts: I imagine them meeting again when Destrii is a companion, and Izzy being surprised that the Doctor's got her on board the TARDIS, but accepting that that must mean she's undergone some sort of personal growth. Or maybe during whatever we didn't see between the end of the comics and ... well, I guess Night of the Doctor, in current continuity, Eight leaves Destrii behind on Earth and Izzy helps her build a new life. If you're going down a smut route, something to do with them having extremely intimate knowledge of one another's bodies?

Pushing Ice - Alastair Reynolds"
Some general things I love about this canon: the weird aliens, the perspectives of long-lived humans, the exploration of living through a severe resources bottleneck.
Chromis Pasqueflower Bowerbird/Bella Lind
I think the clash of perspectives between these two is what makes them interesting to me, and particularly that they each provide insight to the other, in various ways.
Prompts: Anything exploring the interaction between (the smartmatter) Chromis and Bella would be great. Chromis has this idealised view of Bella as "the Benefactor" that Bella really doesn't recognise in herself. How does Bella react to this person who's simultaneously from the deep past and the distant future? What exactly can the smartmatter do? ;)
Svetlana Barseghian/Bella Lind
I adore the complexity of the relationship between these two: the way they oscillate between allies and rivals over time as their circumstances keep changing so enormously, with distrust and suspicion building up and never going away completely even when things are going relatively well, but also the mutual respect that never goes away even when things are going badly.
Prompts: I genuinely thought that it might be heading for a canonical get-together on my first read; anything exploring that possibility would be great. Alternatively, how Bella feels post-canon knowing that her mind has been repaired with bits of Svetlana's. Or some pining (in either direction).
General | FP | DW (comics) | Pushing Ice | Culture | 16 Ways ... | SMAC | Darkplace | Ready For It | Lady of the Shard | Secret Wars
The Culture - Iain M. Banks
Cards on the table time: if I had to choose a fictional universe to live in, it would be this one. (In that I would stay in the Culture enjoying the hedonism.) Absolutely anything exploring it would be great.
Diziet Sma
Sma is probably my single favourite (human) Culture character, though there are a lot running her a close second.
Prompts: more about her relationship with the Arbitrary and/or her reaction to her time on Earth. Backstory about how she ended up joining Contact/being recruited into SC. Further adventures in manipulating alien societies for their own good (feel free to include other characters - I haven't specifically requested Zakalwe but I'm not averse to him appearing in something Dizzy-centric).
Skaffen-Amtiskaw & Diziet Sma
I love that "female SC agent + drone" is a cliché even in-universe.
Prompts: Skaffen-Amtiskaw's backstory. Fixing and/or causing chaos on some planet somewhere. Downtime (maybe in transit from one assignment to another?). Disapproving of each other's leisure activities.
GOU Falling Outside The Normal Moral Constraints/Lededje Y'breq
They're an intriguing combo in Surface Detail. The Falling Outside is clearly another example of a Mind pushing at the boundaries of what's "proper" (in a different but not completely dissimilar way to the Grey Area in Excession), and the way their relationship develops from grudging respect to a twisted sort of affection is fun, and it seems to me could easily go further, given the ship's strange behaviour towards organics ...
Prompts: Lededje eventually allows herself to be recruited by SC, and they're reunited on a missin. It seems to me that the Minds behind putting them together might well have intended for it to be as much for the ship's benefit as to Lededje's; maybe an outsider POV based on that -- or they find out, how do they both react? If you want to write smut, feel free to go absolutely wild, either using Demeisen or other means of them interacting.
Flere-Imsaho
I genuinely didn't guess, the first time I read Player of Games, so I have a high regard for the sneaky little bugger.
Prompts: What exactly happened during his time in SC. (Or was it all just a very long con game to get Gurgeh?) What it's like pretending to be an older model. What's with the fixation on avians? Anything post-canon.

16 Ways To Kill a Vampire at McDonalds"
(You can play the game online for free here. It takes an hour or two to get all the endings.)
I love the fun tone of this canon, and especially the way that Everything Is True in relation to vampires. The way it makes you inhabit Lucy's relationship dynamics works really nicely for me, too, with her feelings becoming clear in the slight disconnect between the player and her, with her occasionally resisting/outright refusing to use certain options.
I've requested this without any specific character/ship noms; I'm very happy with anything at all, including all-out worldbuilding, though I do like the Luke/Lucy/Maggie and Luke/Lucy/Maggie/Claire poly ships the best.
Prompts: More vampire hunting shenanigans for Lucy, Maggie and Luke. The game portrays an atypical experience, what does a more typical one look like? Exactly how bad at it were they when they first got started? Or do they find themselves having to deal with other supernatural creatures, and having to learn a bunch of new lore? (Possibly leading to a group sex saves the day type situation?) Or just a big exposition dump about lore, delivered Lucy-style or otherwise. Claire going to find Lucy, as implied by the extra ending, and getting embroiled in their life.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
Corazon Santiago/Deirdre Skye
General note: I am extremely agnostic about Alien Crossfire; feel free to do any of ignore it, incorporate it, or borrow some elements from it while ignoring others completely.
I love this game. I still get shivers every time the first fungus pops and the first interlude from the Book of Planet comes up when I start a playthrough. Anything at all that gets at the sense of the strangeness, difficulty but also beauty of life on a new planet would be very cool.
The "canon" story that comes out in the Datalinks quotes and wonders videos implies a war where the Gaians eventually completely overrun the Spartans with mind worms, and I would definitely be up for darkfic along those lines if the inspiration strikes you. In general, the screaming pain sphere thing that captured leaders get put in when you defeat a faction and all the "swear a pact to serve me" stuff if you let them capitulate has quite strong BDSM-y overtones to me.
Prompts: "Symbols are the key to telepathy." Arguments in the planetary council leading to a continued discussion (or "discussion") in private. "Very well, but you must swear a pact to serve me." Conquest victory: spoils of war. Economic victory: counting the cost. Diplomatic victory: embracing the new world leader. Transcendence victory: one last night of being human.

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
(no specific characters or ships - just the fandom as a whole)
I'm fine with something set entirely in the show-within-the-show, entirely in the "behind the scenes" point of view, or mixing the two as the show itself does.
I would love anything at all here, gen or shippy -- on the shippy front, I could easily buy into any combination of the characters. Cracky horror in the vein of the show itself would be great, but I'd also be up for something quieter -- what happens in Darkplace hospital when there isn't an eldritch horror from beyond mankind's ability to understand on the loose? -- or a behind-the-scenes story. What happens if something (seemingly/actually) supernatural happens during filming?
Probably worth saying that this is a fandom where I'd definitely be up for a bit of formal experimentation if you are. Write in Garth's style! Or do a piece from one of those '90s cult magazines about this lost horror classic. Or something that matches the show, interleaving the story with the reminiscences of the participants in its creation.

Ready for It - Taylor Swift (Music Video)
Caged Cyborg/Hooded Cyborg
I'm very much open to worldbuilding in general about the cyborg dystopia implied in the video, but some sort of exploration of this or some other encounter between the two Taylors very welcome. I really love the way everything transforms when it gets to the "in the middle of the night, in my dreams ..." bits.
Prompts: Why is the naked one in the cage? Are they on opposing sides of some conflict? Is this some sort of upgrade? Do they share some sort of computerised dreams? What happens next. Backstory about how they came to exist. Use and abuse of shapeshifting powers.
General | FP | DW (comics) | Pushing Ice | Culture | 16 Ways ... | SMAC | Darkplace | Ready For It | Lady of the Shard | Secret Wars
Lady of the Shard
(This is a relatively short webcomic available for free here, takes half an hour to an hour to read.)
Acolyte/Old God, Acolyte/Old God/Radiant Goddess, Acolyte/Radiant Goddess, Old God/Radiant Goddess
I love the sort of slightly dreamy tone that permeates the story; I'm particularly fond of the way most of the art is usually very simple, almost stick-figure-y, but then the closer things get to the divine, the more detailed it becomes. All of the pairings have their own different dynamics but I think what unites them for me is this kind of feedback loop between the divine and the human; there's all sorts of interesting implications about the nature of belief buried in there, if you want to explore the more philosophical side of it. I'd be interested in pretty much anything and everything for any of these ships (and I am definitely OK with mind-control/reality-altering dubcon in the Acolyte/Old God and Old God/Radiant Goddess pairings; the threesome OTOH I see as more redemptive and would prefer that not to go down those lines).
Some specific prompts: An external perspective on any of the relationships (e.g. the other acolytes, a visitor from the Distant Stars, the Titans). Something post-canon about how things work in the new universe. Expansion on any of the key moments in canon, either in terms of an introspective piece about what one of the characters is feeling at that point, or filling in some of the fade-to-blacks.
General | FP | DW (comics) | Pushing Ice | Culture | 16 Ways ... | SMAC | Darkplace | Ready For It | Lady of the Shard | Secret Wars
Marvel Secret Wars Battleworlds
God-Emperor Doom, Stephen Strange - Sheriff of Agamotto, Susan Storm - Royal Consort, Valeria Richards - Head of the Foundation & None
(I didn't nom the ship for this exchange, but I have low key shipped Stephen/Victor since coming across The Triumph and the Torment, but I really like the twist on their relationship we get here, where Stephen turned away from the opportunity to be god but appreciates that Victor did save everyone by taking it, even while he doesn't really trust him. Anything exploring that dynamic between them (whether shippy or not) would be great. Especially if it has a bit of a hint of Stephen having secrets and schemes. Though I do like the idea that they might occasionally start to forget that this isn't the way it always was, if that makes sense, until something jarring happens to remind them.)
Prompts: There's this huge eight year gap in the backstory of Battleworld waiting to be explored here where Doom set up Battleworld and ran it before the arks were found. I'd be up for anything from what it was like at the very beginning to an exploration of a particular encounter with an upstart baron or something along those lines; feel free to bring in any versions of any Marvel characters that take your fancy if you're going in that general direction, not just ones we know about from the event. Or a more detailed exploration of things that are alluded to in the main story, like how Johnny Storm ended up being the sun. (More generally, the tensions within the royal household must be very interesting, even with the altered memories involved ...) On the other hand, if you want to open up a particular point during the mini-series itself and do a more introspective piece exploring how either or both of them are feeling at that time, that'd be great too. How Stephen's feeling when he chooses to aid Reed and co., how Valeria comes to terms with what she's piecing together, what Susan thinks about everything that's happening, or how Doom feels after killing Stephen, would all be particularly interesting to read about.
